Openbox: window manager.

Most attractive aspect of freedesktop.org beyond, obviously, its absolute flexibility. My use of Openbox is quite rare, but when I use it it's because I need it, so I want a tool to manage windows that does the few things they were thought for, do them well and quickly.

Given these simple requests, and considering that Openbox for me is a tool to be used only when needed, I link the two only configuration files:

  1. rc.xml
  2. autostart.sh

autostart.sh for me is quite superfluous, because it executes two scripts already executed by my default window 'not'-manager, ratpoison.
The only softwares that are useful to run openbox with my configuration files are
  1. fbpanel: Lightweight pannel for X11;
  2. gmrun: Featureful CLI-like GTK+ application launcher.

fbpanel is really handy because it gives a more familiar aspect to our desktop, in case we leave our workstation momentarilu to some one else, but for me it's not essential, so I don't start it automatically. gmrun is launched with the most used keyboard shorcut for application launcher, Alt F2

This page, quite clearly, is useful mostly for myself, for an easier organization of my work when I configure Openbox, and not for giving informations on how to set it up.
